Karl's Photo Blog
Welcome to my photographic journey. I'll be posting a blog entry with a new photo each day for 2018. Check back each day.
I first started a photo of the day project in 2012. Tried it again in 2013 and 2015. Giving it another go in 2018.
All the prep work is complete, and the lathe is up and running. It works great. Finished my first project today! Can't share a photo of it because it is a surprise for Beth. I thought it might be a mess, but it really did come out pretty good. I'll post a photo of it eventually. Very exciting.
Up next - a screen door for the for the workshop. Too many bees and insects checking out the shop while I'm in there working...
... enjoy the journey
One hundred and twenty days of photos! 435 Photos in the 2018 gallery. Wow. Almost a third of the way into the 365 day Journey. That's an adventure too! With flowers and butterflies and fun stuff. Let's keep going!
Went out for dinner to celebrate Matt's birthday. He choose Red Lobster. I ordered the grilled shrimp and Steak. It was vey good. Looks good too!
I took the shrimp off the wooden skewer before I decided to photograph. Bummer, that would have been more interesting!
Late afternoon at the Veterans Freedom Park. Planned this trip earlier in the day when there were nice white clouds in the sky. Just wanted the later golden light... As you can see, the clouds didn't hang around!
I need more power in the workshop! Adding a couple more circuits to power the power tools. Here is a switch box I added and wired up today. Very exciting, isn't it! (I'm starting to stuggle on photo ideas, especially when trying to work on things around the house. Tomorrow is Saturday, so I can do better!)
I last visited this fountain when it was covered in ice! (January 6, 2018 photo) Certainly no ice today. Very pretty park in downtown Cary. HDR, Focus stacked.
And a pretty squirrel with an interesting color... gray squirrel with red squirrel coloring:
Dusty climbing on me while I try to photograph her! That makes it difficult to get her!
Pretty little gold finch with eggs in a box.
Me Monday. Look how long my hair is getting. Almost like 1979.
New York Strip steak on the grill. Almost ready to take off. Thick and Juicy. Left one was marinated in Dale's sauce, so it got a little more crispy, but that is just onthe surface... I will say these were delicious - with corn on the cob and steamed spinach.
I sat down to rest after working in the yard today, and I made sure to have my camera with me and ready to go. I waited a few minutes, and this Eastern Bluebird landed on a near by branch. He asked to have his portraits made. I agreed, and this is what we came up with. Very nice, I think. I hope he likes them as well.
Here is my new birthday present watch! It's a beauty! I haven't worn a watch for a few years... just used my cell phone as a pocket watch. It is nice to have a beautiful new wrist watch to wear. Old school analog is the way to go!
Interesting art piece in front of the Cary Arts Center. This is made from old school lockers from the Cary Elementry school - which is now the Cary Arts Center! Very cool.

Here is one of my outside bunnies. I see this one often in the yard. This is a big bunny! I think he is happy living in my bushes.
