296/365 Afraid of the dark296/365 Afraid of the darkDay 296
We must all be afraid of the dark... or we would be if there were any dark places left!
I went out in search of a dark place. I don't believe there is one left that isn't fenced off.
I thought the middle school athletic fields would work - no, there were portable lights there and a soccer team practicing. May CA fields would be better. No, plenty of lights there illuminating the empty fields.
How about the entrance to the state park? No, that needs a bright light to shine over the closed and locked gate.
So I parked, and walked into the park a little way. The wind was blowing, the trees swaying, limbs creaking. And looking back toward the gate, and liked the scene before me. The light made the green of the trees glow, and the stars shine through the opening in the tree branches. Click. Get the picture. Then a quick exit. It is creepy out here in the dark.

Day 296
We must all be afraid of the dark... or we would be if there were any dark places left!

I went out in search of a dark place. I don't believe there is one left that isn't fenced off.

I thought the middle school athletic fields would work - no, there were portable lights there and a soccer team practicing. Maybe Cary Academy fields would be better?  No, plenty of lights there illuminating the empty fields.

How about the entrance to the state park? No, that needs a bright light to shine over the closed and locked gate.  Don't give up!
I parked by the gate, and walked into the park a little way.  The wind was blowing, the trees swaying, and limbs creaking. Looking back toward the gate, and liked the scene before me. The previously annoying street light made the green of the trees glow, the rail fence zigging in the eerie light, and the stars shining through the opening in the tree branches. Click. Get the picture. Then a quick exit.

It is creepy out here in the dark.
