Karl's Photo Blog
Welcome to my photographic journey.
I'll be posting a variety of things with no determined schedule.
I posted a blog entry with a new photo every day in 2018! I'm very happy I completed it. I first started a photo of the day project in 2012. Tried it again in 2013 and 2015. I failed to complete it on the first 3 tries. As they say, 4th try is, oh, never mind.
Day 353
Dusty is having a good evening, she knows there aren't many Wabbit Wednesdays left. Only one more after today! Will she miss having her photo taken? You bet!
Day 352
We have a bright moon, and partly cloudy skies tonight. 30s exposure gives nice movement in the clouds. Calm night, so the trees are very still.
Day 351
The tree is up! It is ready for hanging ornaments. Probably do that tomorrow. The angel won't light up... she is about 30 years old, so maybe she is done. I'll look for a new angel to top the tree.
Merry Christmas.
Day 350
I photographed ducks and swans at Lake Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge. It was a misty, rainy day, but the ducks didn't seem to mind. It is good to get a little rain on your face!
A gallery of 20 photos (these and a few others) has also been uploaded.
Day 349
Found a huge flock of snow geese today! Traveled to the preserve at Pungo Lake. Had rainy, foggy, but warm weather today. Too much water in the air for crisp photos like last year... but still a great day shooting. Also found some bald eagles and tundra swans. A good day!
Here is a gallery with 23 photos from Pungo Lake
Day 348
The latest project to come off the lathe. 8" Hard Maple bowl/platter. 2" thick. Carved and airbrushed in yellow, orange, red and purple. I am very happy with this little project.
Day 347
Thursday evening, and Sunday's snow is still here! The flamingos are no longer covered, and Santa should be back on his feet soon!
Day 346
Just a simple photo of Dusty. She posed while I grabbed the camera. One shot from above, one shot straight on. All done. The pretty bunny girl didn't mind this 2 shot photo shoot.
Day 345
More Funko Pop! figures from the Harry Potter advent calendar. From left to right - Dobbie, Fred, Hedwig, Hagrid, Moaning Myrtle, Ron, and Hermione. They are cool. I'll have another batch next week, and I will probably use the advent calendar background next time.
Day 344
Stopped by the town hall this evening. It is pretty with the snow and the decorations.
Day 343
Lots of snow today! Got about 7 inches of snow before it turned to rain. Very pretty morning. Hope we get a few more snow days this winter!
And of course the required photo of the table on the deck... See, we got snow!
Day 342
I made another nice little tea light holder today. This is Cherry wood. Stands about 5" tall, and finished up quite nicely. Good to have a shop day!
Day 341
I drove around tonight looking for nice Christmas decorations. I didn't find any over-the-top displays to photograph, so I had to settle for these pretty and tasteful ones! I'll keep looking so don't give up... I'm sure to find some great ones soon.
Mostly clear and cold... clouds moving in, snow is on the way!
Day 339
It's Wabbit Wednesday again. Grabbed my fast 50mm lens, and left the flash in the flash drawer... Dusty doesn't mind the camera when there isn't a flash going off in her face. She hopped around and I gave her a few treats as I took these pics. Do you know there are only 3 more Wabbit Wednesdays in 2018? Yep, not many left!
