143/365 Time for your close-up
Day 143 Experimenting with my new extension tubes after giving up on the humming bird again today. Extension tubes let a lens focus much closer than it normally can. In this case I am probably 2 feet from this flower, when normal minium focus distance is about 6 feet. For this subject, my macro lens would have perhaps been a better choice, but I want to get a feel for the extension tubes. They are good when you want more distance for butterflies and bees and other creepy crawlies. Speaking of creapy crawlies - can you make out the little yellow bugs in the center of this flower? They jumped out at me (NOT literally thank God) when I locked focus. I like the nice colors in this shot. And I'm hoping tomorrow to get a hummingbird!
