November 4

Sunrise on the ‘little lake’.

Finding November nudged me toward a spot I’d never visited before. I rely heavily on Google Maps—especially satellite view—for scouting potential vantage points, and this search led me straight to the Village of Mayfield’s Community Park on Mayfield Lake.

What a quiet, beautiful place for dawn. The morning was completely calm: a crisp, comfortable 30 degrees with barely a breath of wind. Though mostly overcast, the cloud deck left just enough room along the horizon for the rising sun to throw long rays across the water, delivering a rich, lingering display of color. I could easily have spent another hour working the shoreline, but the workday was waiting.
