Morning Sentry
A bright red chair, an empty cup,
A watchful eye across the lawn.
A tiny pup now sitting up,
To guard the peace of autumn dawn.
I stepped inside for just a few minutes to run the vacuum, leaving my coffee cooling on the patio table. When I glanced out the window, Lumi had decided my seat looked entirely too inviting to pass up.
Perched upright like a pint-sized backyard supervisor, she took her sentinel duties very seriously—scanning the grass for errant leaves, stray squirrels, and neighborhood intrigue.
It turns out morning yard security is exhausting work, but somebody has to do it.
Does your pet have a favorite “human spot” they steal the moment your back is turned?
