The Extraordinary Ordinary
An ordinary path across the lawn,
An ordinary bench beneath the trees,
Between the quiet daylight and the dawn,
Unfolding in a steady evening breeze.
A hound alert for rustling in the bark,
Where squirrels dart across the cooling grass;
We walk the gentle curve around the park
And watch the simple shadows stretch and pass.
No drama crowns the pale and muted sky,
Just amber breaking where the clouds divide,
A common dusk that meets a common eye,
With quiet companionship beside.
For grace is rarely painted grand or loud,
It lives inside the rhythms of the day—
A patient stroll beneath a gathering cloud,
The simple gifts we meet along the way.
Just an ordinary sunset after an ordinary evening stroll through the neighborhood park. Squirrels up the trunks, wet grass underfoot, and the quiet familiarity of an everyday routine.
It is easy to hold out for the grand, dramatic moments, but there is genuine magic in the ordinary days—shared steps, familiar trees, and finding peace right in the neighborhood we call home. Take a moment to notice and appreciate the amazing ordinary parts of your everyday.
Field Notes: A stitched wide panorama from an evening walk, capturing the warm glow breaking behind the neighborhood park canopy just before dusk.
